Morocco deserves to be
experienced differently.
Most travelers arrive with an itinerary built by someone who has never been here — generic routes, crowded stops, none of the real places that make this country extraordinary. We built DIY Morocco to change that.
We are not a travel agency. We don't sell tours. We give you the knowledge — the contacts, the honest routes, the hidden stays — that we'd give a close friend visiting for the first time. You travel independently. We make sure you're prepared to do it right.
The journey
that built this
Every expert has a path. Ours started with boots on the ground and a shared conviction that Morocco deserved better.
We learn Morocco the hard way
Long before there was a website, there were just three guys on foot. We walked trails in the High Atlas that had no names on any map. We slept in Berber homes, shared mint tea with shepherds, and got gloriously lost more times than we can count. These years weren't research — they were life.
Friends started asking for help
As our experience grew, so did the questions. Friends planning trips. Online strangers who found our photos. Travelers desperate to see the real Morocco but terrified of getting it wrong. They didn't want a tour group. They wanted the kind of knowledge we had — and they had no way to get it.
We decided to share everything
We could have become tour guides. We could have started an agency. Instead we chose something harder and more meaningful — giving independent travelers everything they needed to go it alone, with our expertise as their silent backup. No handholding. Just real, deep, honest knowledge that empowers you to create your own journey.
A resource built on love for this country
Today, DIY in Morocco is exactly what we pictured. A consultation. A custom itinerary. A download with everything in your hands — the right guesthouse, the right camel guide, GPS pins for places with no address. We hand it over and step back. Morocco does the rest.
Built by travelers,
for travelers.
We are Hamza, Mohammed and Ali — three Moroccans who spent years deep inside the tourism industry, watching independent travelers get a shallow version of a country we know intimately. We decided to change that.
Between us we have guided travelers through the Sahara, hiked every trail on Toubkal, found 12 roads that don't exist on any map, and built genuine friendships with the families, guides and artisans who make Morocco what it is. We didn't want to sell tours. We wanted to hand over the knowledge.
Every itinerary we build. Every guesthouse we recommend. Every contact we share. It comes from years of living here, traveling every inch of it, and genuinely caring that you experience Morocco the way it deserves to be experienced.
Morocco is not a package.
It's a conversation.
The best travel experiences happen when you're free to say yes to the unexpected — to accept an invitation to tea, to take the road not marked on the map, to sit with a family in their courtyard and understand something real about the world. That kind of travel doesn't happen on a tour bus. It happens when you're equipped, informed, and free.
Four things we will never compromise on
Radical Honesty
We tell you what's overrated, what's dangerous, and what's overhyped. No sugarcoating. Our reputation depends on your experience being real.
Deep Local Roots
Our knowledge comes from years on the ground — not from reading travel blogs. We know Morocco the way you know your home city.
Your Independence
We exist to empower, not to control. Every guide, map, and consultation is designed to make you more capable — not more dependent on us.
Responsible Travel
We promote Morocco in a way that respects its people, its culture, and its fragile landscapes. Good travel leaves places better than it finds them.
